The Beginning
Ocala Springs Baptist Church was organized on July 5, 1992 under the leadership of Pastor Charles Mathis. The church consisted of four members: Pastor Mathis, his wife Louise and family, Ernest Oliver, and his wife, Edna. There were 26 persons present on the first Sunday and they met in a small store in Silver Springs, Florida. Services were held in this building until February 28, 1993. Oakcrest Baptist Church sponsored the new mission.
The Present
Our membership continues to grow in our new church building. We are committed to building successful lives and families, and to providing a church home to the Christian Community. We have a great concern for the moral decline of our cities and our nation and believe the only hope we have is genuine revival. We are committed to reaching this community with the good news of JESUS CHRIST through outreach and sound Biblical teaching. Our members are a friendly group and enjoy one another's fellowship. We find strength from being a part of the family of God.
